What is the BIA?
The Building Industry Association of Stark County is a non-profit trade association affiliated with the Ohio Home Builders Association and the National Association of Home Builders. Chartered in 1945, the BIA represents and promotes the interests and concerns of the building industry and the community.

What are the benefits of being a member?
This nonprofit organization offers a broad range of services to meet the diverse needs and interests of its members, the local building industry, and the community. Some of the many services the BIA offers its members include: Industry Promotions, Government Relations, Social Activities & Events, Money-Saving Benefits, Publications, and Community Involvement.

  • Providing education and information to the membership and the community.
  • Maintaining a positive image of the industry.
  • Fostering the professional and ethical standards of our members.
  • And promoting the products and services of its' members in order to help them be more successful.

The BIA is recognized as Consumers 1st choice in Stark County and a leading advocate in the improvement for the quality of life in our community.

Why do Business with a BIA Member?
The Building Industry Association of Stark County has established several prerequisites for Builder Membership in order to attract and retain the highest-quality home builders.  These include:

 

  • Any person, firm, or corporation seeking builder membership
    must have been active in the construction of new homes or apartments,
    schools, commercial, industrial, or other structures normally related to and
    appurtenant to a community for a period of at least one (1) year prior to
    becoming a member.
  • All builder members shall subscribe to the Code of Ethics of the Association.
  • All builders seeking membership shall provide letters of reference from two (2) customers and two (2) subcontractors or suppliers in which the builder has conducted business with in the past twelve months.
  • All members shall meet with the approval of the Membership Committee and the Board of Trustees.


The BIA of Stark County also offers Associate Memberships to professions that provide supplies or services to builder members.  Associate members cover all aspects of the housing industry, from digging the hole all the way through final decorations, including many professional services along the way.

Associate members are required to obtain sponsorship by a current member in good standing with the BIA, and must be approved by the Membership Committee and the Board of Trustees.  In choosing to do business with an associate member, you gain the experience of contractors and suppliers who are working with the best home builders in the county.
